After announcing the iPhone 5 to a response of over 2 million pre-orders in a matter of days, it didn’t look like Apple could to much wrong. However the launch of iOS 6 yesterday prompted a lot of Apple fanatics to become angry at the new maps application which has replaced Google Maps, meaning that in the end, Apple’s week has been far from perfect. As if their week wasn’t busy enough, Apple will now have to deal with the fact that some users are reporting that the new iPhone 5 is very easy to scratch due to the new back design.
At the moment, all of the reports we have seen are based on customer discussion in forums, so we can’t confirm anything. However one of the people participating in this discussion decided to take a pair of keys to an iPhone 5 to see really does scratch as easily as people were concerned. Unfortunately for Apple, the results of the key test weren’t good. Check out the image below.
As you can see, there are quite a few scratches on both the back surface and on the edge of the device. So until Apple confirm or deny there is a problem, now might be a good time to buy a case for your iPhone 5, just in case.
Samsung and Apple have one of the most well documented rivalries ever recorded in the world of technology, so it’s no surprise that they are constantly preparing to attack each other over products they release. It’s also no surprise that as a result of this, Samsung are yet to get their hands on the iPhone 5. However according to a report by All Things D, Samsung are more than ready to sue Apple over the newest iPhone.
The report states that Samsung have already filed a claim with the court over the incoming release of the iPhone 5.
“Based on information currently available, Samsung expects that the iPhone 5 will infringe the asserted Samsung patents-in-suit in the same way as the other accused iPhone models,” the company said in the filing. “Samsung plans to file a motion to amend its infringement contentions to address the iPhone 5 as soon as it has had a reasonable opportunity to analyze the device.”
Samsung have spent the past year or so entangled in a raging legal battle with Apple, which resulted in a huge loss for the Korean company which was found to have infringed on many of patented designs of the iPhone and iPad. Despite losing this battle, Samsung aren’t done with their grudge against Apple, today launching a new advert which detail the details of both the iPhone and Galaxy S3 which lists a number of extra features. Samsung tells their readers, ‘It doesn’t take a genius’.
The iPhone is one of the most iconic products of all time, but Apple still feel pressured each year to update the design and it’s features. As it turns out, they don’t need to do this. They simply need to give people the iPhone 4S and tell them that it’s the latest model, it saves them a year of hard work and a lot of money.
Jimmy Kimmel is the the TV host who found this out. His team took an iPhone 4S onto the streets and asked for the public’s opinion on it, telling them it was the iPhone 5 which was announced yesterday. Every person on the video claims to be impressed with the new design, the speed, weight and size of the phone. Some people were even comparing it to their iPhone 4S!
It goes to show, Apple’s design of the iPhone is so simple every year that for the majority of people they don’t need to change a thing.
Many people would have lost interest in the iPhone 5’s camera during the announcement yesterday once it was revealed that it still has an 8MP camera, the same as the previous generation. However as any photographer or technology fan will tell you, the megapixels of a camera is far from being the deciding factor in the quality of the resulting images taken. The iPhone 5 has improved low-light performance and face recognition to help the 8MP camera take stunning shots.
Apple have released some un-edited shots taken with the iPhone 5. There are no official comparison photos so we can’t see the difference, but they certainly look very good. Not that it matters, most of you will ruin the images by adding a silly Instagram filter to them!
Poor Apple. It must be extremely stressful trying to hide a product which has more media attention than any other product in the world.
As predicted, the next iPhone has been high in the minds of any tech reporter, with the leak of images of the supposed iPhone 5, as well as leaked details and release dates to come from several manufacturers and suppliers around the world.
Today a repair shop named iLab have released images of another leaked iPhone 5. What makes this leak so special is that it’s the first time we have seen a clear picture of the next iPhone in it’s complete form.
