Almost all of Google’s Android applications are beautifully designed, with the exception of Google Music. While some people may like the blue theme, I feel it’s too different from the rest of Google’s style to feel like a part of Android.
Here’s the first ‘Amazing Android Icon Pack’ of 2013. This, the third article, includes some of the latest icon pack releases, as well as some which were pointed out to me, after missing them out in the previous collections.
This Lego model is an almost like-for-like replica of the original 1984 Mac, minus all the technical stuff – obviously.
Pinterest are currently in the process of testing out a new user interface, designed to help users navigate to specific ‘pins’, which are then displayed in a clearer and larger way than before.
This design is so good, it’s simply annoying that it’s only a concept. The unnamed application spruces up the typical iOS design scheme to make each thumbnail and button stand out. The main menu looks slightly like the YouTube iOS app, but it has a little more polish. » Read more
KDDI have announced the Infobar AO2, a HTC-made smart phone for a Japanese market, which boasts some impressive specifications and a really nice design. But what impressed me the most is the user interface shown off in the promo for the phone. » Read more
I’m a huge fan of Twitter. I probably use it more than any other social network because the 140-character limit on updates mean people have to be short and snappy. However the design of Twitter lacks imagination, opting for a simple list format. It’s a design scheme which fits the purpose fine, but it’s boring, and could be changed to look like this concept.
Resumes are usually extremely boring. Black text on a white background, highlighting your achievements and education in the hope of appealing to potential employers. Because most of them follow the same design, no single resume stands out. Web Product Manager Philippe Dubost decided that he needed to stand out, so themed his resume to look like he is a product available for sale on Amazon, complete with free shipping and stock count.
I currently really like Google’s design scheme for Android. Almost all the applications look similar to each other and I think the Holo design is probably a better default design than on any other operating system. But if you take a look at the calendar app, you’ll notice that it’s really boring. It’s still Holo, but there isn’t really much to look at.
